Frank&Robbert are creating a new theater piece called WOOD , the third performance in the Table Dialogues series. Table Dialogues, started in 2020 during the pandemic, aims to use new tech to create meaningful connections with the audience through participatory performances.
WOOD is a room-scale multiplayer VR experience where the audience uses the Meta VR headset to enter a liminal world with an inner and outer sphere. Mother Nature has taken a different evolutionary path, creating an alienating and weird world where the audience must learn new rules of nature and discover an unknown plain.
The Tree of Life, a key element in this theatrical experience, functions as a beacon for Mother Nature to restart life after a cataclysm. It secures the mystery of life and acts as a symbolic Boat of Noah, safekeeping life.
Currently, Robbert&Frank are working at Ontsteking in Ghent on the building blocks of WOOD. To visualize the mysterious digital world, they created a charcoal mural focusing on the Tree of Life and its mysterious fruits. It’s said that the Tree of Life will lose all its leaves before a disaster, and only when one leaf remains will it start creating mysterious fruits that harbor Manna, the life juice of our planet.
